Social-TV pays tribute to U-Dream Global pilot pair

Renowned project directors of U-Dream Global, Des Werner, and Werner Froneman passed away tragically when their plane crashed in Tanzania on Saturday 3 August 2019.

The four-seater plane entered the Tanzanian airspace from Uganda, while on their way to Malawi. Tanzanian authorities confirmed that a distress signal was issued for engine failure before the plane disappeared off the radar.  The Sikonge District commissioner, Peres Magiri said, “the plane crashed shortly after take-off from Tabora Airport at around 07h30”.

U Dream Global is an NGO that was founded by Werner’s daughter, Megan. The NGO supported the vision of 20 South African teenagers building a Sling plane in 10 days, and flying it from Cape Town to Cairo. The plane built by the teenagers made it successfully from the Cape to Cairo. The support plane flown by Werner and Froneman, crashed shortly after take-off and erupted into flame.
