Malawi is set to host the Africa Netball Cup 2025 at the Griffin Saenda Sports Complex in Lilongwe from 8 to 14 December 2025. The tournament, organised by Africa Netball, will bring together nine nations – Malawi, South Africa, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia and Eswatini – for a week of high‑energy competition and cultural exchange.
Fans can look forward to seeing some of the continent’s top talent, including Malawi’s Joyce Mvula and Mary Cholhok, as well as South Africa’s Shadine van der Merwe. Limbani Matola, chair of the Local Organising Committee, said the event is a beautiful opportunity to showcase Malawi’s sporting talent and the warmth of its people, and he expressed confidence that the matches will inspire a new generation of girls to take up netball.
The event has attracted strong local support. Premier Bet Malawi has pledged MWK 10 million, while Castel Malawi has contributed MK 25 million to help cover logistics, operations and facility upgrades. Sunbird Hotels and Resorts has signed on as the official hospitality partner, ensuring visitors enjoy a comfortable stay. Matola also called on other companies to join the effort so that together they can deliver a tournament that Malawi can be proud of.
The Netball Association of Malawi reaffirmed its commitment to both women’s and men’s netball, aligning with Africa Netball’s push for the sport’s inclusion in future Olympic Games. By showcasing gender inclusivity, the tournament aims to advance the global ambition of netball on the world stage and to promote equal opportunities for girls and boys on the court.
Preparations are in the final stages, with upgraded courts, training facilities and a dedicated team of volunteers ready to welcome fans from across the continent.
