Joel Stransky’s Desert Dash Wrap-up

The Betway Hope Ride, Sea to See,  has raised over R1 million in profit for the LumoHawk Foundation, funds that will allow them to significantly extend their reach and help even more young learners across South Africa to get the gift of sight.

“This journey was about so much more than the kilometres, it was about being part of something truly special. The community of riders who joined our core little group along the way, the two young drivers who supported us tirelessly, our incredible sponsors, our friends and family, and every single person who followed our progress and cheered us on, they all made this possible,” says Joel Stransky.

“The live tracking platform, www.hoperide.co.za, developed by Britehouse added an extra dimension to the ride. It allowed people to follow us in real-time, to show their support, to encourage and inspire us, to donate, and to truly be part of the journey. People felt like they had a stake in what we were doing, and that buy-in made all the difference,” adds Stransky.

“This has been such an uplifting experience, and knowing that over R1 million will now go toward changing children’s lives made every pedal stroke and every dark moment worth it. We couldn’t have done this without this amazing community rallying behind us.”
