The Alexandra Trampoline Club is an NGO based in Alexandra and coached by Hudson Nxumalo. He changes the lives of the children who are members of the club by offering them a safe environment in which to play, together with opportunities to get out of the township and compete as gymnasts
Photo journalist Kim Ludbrook says, “I have been visiting the Alex Trampoline Club on and off for 5 years now. Those 3 trampolines really help children have fun and let go of stresses in an otherwise hard place to be brought up”. Ludbrook often visits the Trampoline Club to take photos of the children and teenagers jumping on the trampolines.
The children from the Club often earn positions of big gymnastics teams. Six gymnasts were selected represent South Africa at the 2014 Indo Pacific Championships
