The Great Optimist Race raises funds for charities

The Little Optimist Sailing, Training and Therapy Day took place this past weekend. The event was for children to play while learning the basics of sailing in preparation for The Great Optimist Race, and to receive a motivational story from Greg Bertish, charity campaigner, about persevering through challenging ordeals.

The Great Optimist Race consists of forty celebrities, corporations, charities and medical survivors racing one another through the V&A Waterfront harbour waters in Optimists.  The race is a fundraising competition to see who is able to raise the most funds for their charity.

Bertish said, “Our mission is to raise as much money as possible so that we can continue to spread our story of hope to help children survive and thrive”.

The Great Optimist Race will be hosted at the Cape Town International Boat Show that takes place from the 18th to the 20th of October. The race itself will be on the 19th of October
