Lady Gaga supports victims of US mass shootings

American superstar Lady Gaga has just announced that she will be funding a number of classroom projects in US cities that have recently fallen victim to mass shootings.

The Oscar award-winning actress made a Facebook post earlier this week stating that she and her Born This Way Foundation would be partnering with Donors Choose to fund the educational needs of students in El Paso, Texas; Dayton, Ohio; and Gilroy, California.

In total, Gaga is funding the projects and resources of 162 classrooms in these cities. The musician also used her Facebook post as a means of encouraging the victims of the shootings and expressing her condolences for those affected.

“My heart goes out to those who were taken from us too soon and to their families, loved ones, and communities who are left to grieve,” wrote Gaga. “Everyone has the right to laws that make them feel safe in their communities. In this moment, I want to channel my confusion, frustration, and fury into hope. Hope that we are there for each other and for ourselves.

“Surviving and recovering from these tragedies also means prioritizing your mental health and checking in on your loved ones,” she continued. “If you’re struggling, please be brave and tell a trusted someone. Don’t be scared to ask for help, I beg you. If you see a loved one struggling, please be brave and reach out, remind them it’s ok to not be ok and listen to them.”

If you would like to join Lady Gaga and Donors Choose in financing the educational needs of the communities affected by the mass shootings, you can visit the nonprofit’s online fundraising campaign.
