The African Union Development Agency – New Partnership for Development (AUDA-NEPAD) and Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening their collaborative efforts towards achieving shared objectives in peace and development solutions that protect and grow Africa’s economies and human well-being. The three-year MoU was signed on the margins of the fourth Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development by Mrs. Nardos Bekele-Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of AUDA-NEPAD, and Ambassador Ahmed Abdel-Latif, Director-General of CCCPA. This partnership underscores AUDA-NEPAD and CCCPA commitment to fostering cooperation and synergy in addressing critical continental challenges.
“The AUDA-NEPAD’s commitment to the Nexus is deeply rooted in the comprehensive framework of Agenda 2063, guiding our initiatives towards a peaceful, integrated, and prosperous Africa,” said Mrs. Nardos Bekele-Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of AUDA-NEPAD.
Both AUDA-NEPAD and CCCPA intend to forge a close and continuous working relationship to advance their common goals and execute the activities of the MoU in strict adherence to the rules, regulations, and procedures of each respective institution. The activities include the following thematic areas:
- Conflict Prevention, Peacemaking, and Peacebuilding
- Peacekeeping
- Women, Peace and Security
- Transnational threats
- Preventing Radicalization and Extremism Leading to Terrorism (PRELT)
- Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration
- Climate, Peace, and Development
- Youth, Peace, and Security
Additionally, AUDA-NEPAD and CCCPA will collaborate in convening the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Development, with CCCPA serving as its Secretariat and AUDA-NEPAD as an invited partner, operating under the modalities of partnership developed by CCCPA.
The MOU represents a significant step towards deeper collaboration between AUDA-NEPAD and CCCPA, leveraging their strengths to contribute meaningfully to global peace and sustainable development.
