Atlas Civils has unveiled a bold plan to deliver 50 million container-based units by 2045, alongside a new social impact initiative aimed at uplifting communities across Africa.
Atlas Civils has announced an ambitious long-term vision that positions the company at the intersection of infrastructure development and social impact. The South African-based manufacturer and supplier of refurbished and purpose-built shipping containers is targeting the delivery of 50 million units by 2045.
The strategy responds to growing demand for affordable, scalable infrastructure across sectors such as housing, construction, agriculture, mining and small business development. Container-based solutions offer speed, durability and flexibility, making them increasingly relevant in both urban and rural contexts.
“Our mission is not just about numbers,” a company spokesperson said. “It’s about creating access — access to housing, access to business opportunities, and access to infrastructure where it’s needed most.”
Alongside its commercial growth strategy, Atlas Civils has launched “Donsa Phambili,” a community upliftment initiative focused on delivering tangible impact. Meaning “push forward,” the initiative is designed to support individuals, families and entrepreneurs through direct access to infrastructure and opportunity.
Over the next five years, the company has committed to donating 200 fully functional units, while also introducing a public nomination platform that allows communities to identify beneficiaries. The initiative will also support small businesses by providing container-based infrastructure to help them start and scale operations.
“Donsa Phambili is about taking action where it matters most,” the company said. “While we scale our operations, we are equally focused on ensuring that growth translates into meaningful change for real people.”
Atlas Civils’ approach reflects a broader shift in how infrastructure is being positioned — not only as a tool for development, but as a catalyst for inclusion. Its container solutions, which range from housing units and site offices to retail spaces and storage facilities, are designed to be ready-to-use, with integrated electrical and plumbing systems.
As the company works toward its 2045 target, it is calling on partners, investors and communities to engage with the initiative, highlighting collaboration as a key driver of both scale and impact.
“This is more than a business target — it’s a real opportunity,” the spokesperson added. “We’re building the future, while making sure no one is left behind.”
