Small business in Bredasdorp receives development and funding

One of Bredasdorp’s favourite takeaway shops, RS Take Away, known for its famous beef/pork ribs across this friendly Overberg town, is a recent beneficiary of a small business development programme, aimed at fostering the growth and success of micro-enterprises within the local communities.

Since joining the programme, the enterprise has not only met its goals but has also brought hope to the community, opening the door to a more promising future.

“The programme has helped build my character as an entrepreneur, boosted my confidence, and made me more proactive, disciplined, focused and goal-orientated. While initially, I tended to identify problems, I now strive to find solutions rather than just pinpointing the issues,” expressed Sue-May Newman, owner of RS Take Away.

Acting as a driving force behind this businesses’ achievements, the programme, funded by Excelsior Wind Energy Facility, is designed to provide support, resources, and guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners that surround the wind farm, to help them overcome challenges and achieve sustainable growth.

The programme has empowered RS Take Away to not only fulfill its initial objectives but to surpass them within a span of just eight months. The business has managed to increase its customer base, expand its workforce, and improve the working environment for its dedicated staff.

“I’ve learned that as an entrepreneur, you have to be willing to put in the work but also find ways to expand and better your business. These past months have been very fruitful, and I’ve noticed lots of positive changes in my business. I began taking charge and concentrating on making my brand even better by implementing what I’ve learned from the programme. This has helped my business stand out from the competition,” concluded Sue-May.

Currently supporting four community SMME’s, Excelsior Wind’s small business development programme is geared to assist entities that fall within the neighbouring areas of Swellendam, Arniston, Ashton, Bonnievale, Bredasdorp, Buffelsjagrivier, Klipdale, Malgas, McGregor, Montagu, Napier, Riviersonderend, Suurbraak,  Zolani, Barrydale and communities within the Overberg District municipality.
