It is with regret that Community Chest announces the resignation of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Lorenzo Davids, with effect 31 March 2021. Davids informed the board of his intention to move on in December 2020.
Since joining the Community Chest as CEO in March 2013, Lorenzo has played a leading role in raising both the public profile of the organisation as a driving force in the development space, as well as placing it at the forefront of donor management, humanitarian support and social justice activism.
Davids brought with him a rich pedigree of experience with over three decades of active and impactful contribution in the South African, African and global development space.
During his eight-year tenure at Community Chest, he transformed the organisation to a leading donor management agency, grew its public profile as a credible social justice voice and expanded its humanitarian impact across South Africa.
Moreover, his unwavering passion, total commitment, contagious enthusiasm and relentless motivation propelled both the organisation and its staff to new levels of innovation, initiative and influence.
The Community Chest and the work that it does will be managed during the transition phase by its Chief Operations Officer, Susan Thevar, until a new CEO is appointed.
