The COVID-19 pandemic has posed major issues for the South African healthcare system, including resource depletion and staff shortages, a lack of access to care, and a need for healthcare systems reform.
Regent Business School in partnership with Siemens Healthineers is determined to provide an opportunity to top 40 participants to develop innovations to challenges in the South African healthcare system.
Participants from various fields of healthcare, IT, engineering and business will develop innovative processes and products that will make a valuable impact on healthcare in the country.
The 40 participants will benefit from building innovative expertise, work on challenging and demanding local topics, engage with key opinion leaders, work in diverse multi-disciplinary teams, use the same templates and processes of Siemens designers, use the Regent iLeadLab for project development and start up possibilities and join global ITT, fellowships and external Innovation Think Tanks (eITT).
Dr Nivasha Parag, Head of School for Healthcare Management at Regent Business School said this is an opportune moment for this programme to arrive in South Africa because the country needs new solutions for the healthcare industry.
“Fragmented services between public and private sectors, shortage of health professionals, weak management, and lack of infrastructure and poor access to care have contributed to the crumbling system over decades. The COVID-19 pandemic has proven itself as a catalyst for a healthcare revolution, with transformation in how, where and why care is delivered.
“Collaboration is fundamental to healthcare innovation as the cross pollination amongst industries, such as healthcare and information technology, will bring about the best solutions to some of these greatest challenges in healthcare.
“The vision of this programme is to proactively drive innovation to improve human life. The solutions are in the hands of innovators to bring about new change for South Africa.” said Dr Parag.
The programme with be run from 5-13 September. For more information, see https://regent.ac.za/itt-programs/
