Macsteel supports Bobbi Bear to bring festive cheer to local children

Macsteel Durban volunteers joined Bobbi Bear Child Safety Officers providing treats, prepared meals, clothing, toys and shoes to the children from the surrounding areas. Bobbi Bear is a human rights organisation committed to helping sexually abused children in Amanzimtoti, Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa. The organisation relies on sponsors to support its campaigns.

Reported cases of child sexual abuse have increased by 400% in the past nine years in our country. Bobbi Bear provides a safe haven and temporary home to children seeking refuge from their abusers.  The organisation also provides ongoing counselling and care for these children and works with the criminal justice system to prosecute perpetrators, educate individuals and communities.

“At this time of year all children deserve to share in some festive season cheer. Bobbi Bear provides an invaluable service which has touched thousands of children and this resonates strongly with Macsteel. We’re pleased that we are able to provide support via an annual grant and sponsorship,” says Kim Allan, Macsteel’s Group Corporate Social Responsibility Manager.
