KZN teen helped his friend with cerebral palsy through Matric

Moyiso Radebe,2019 Matriculant was awarded for the selfless act of helping his friend with motor disability throughout his high school career. Radebe and his friend Mandlenkosi Mbatha, who has cerebral palsy, were both acknowledged recently by the provincial education department for their camaraderie and perseverance in completing matric. According to CDC, Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of disorders that affect a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture.

Radebe was determined to a strong support system for his friend. “I remember when I saw him. I just thought I should go and help because he is a good innocent person. Helping him was always the right thing to do.” Said Radebe. The Mzimela Senior School duo has been friends for only three years but they learnt a lot from each other. Radebe highlighted that their friendship grew in high school because they both had a passion for education.
