In a bid to assist with containing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, whilst allowing taxis to operate and transport commuters as safely as possible Clarendon Transport Underwriting Managers (CTU) have donated 500 reusable face masks at the launch of the sanitising and disinfecting of the Randburg Taxi Rank by SANTACO Gauteng Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) on Thursday, 07 May.
Head of Sales and Marketing at CTU, Bipin Bhagwan says, “The taxi industry provides a vital service to the people of South Africa. We are committed to keeping drivers and passengers, especially health and essential services personnel, safe during these perilous times as well as supporting our President in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. CTU aims to pull together with the industry and fight this pandemic, so that our world can soon return back to normal. To achieve this, we will contribute whatever we can, to the best of our ability.”
Separate to this initiative, CTU had previously donated thousands of face masks, sanitisers and gloves to the taxi industry, and assisted their clients by reducing their monthly premiums by 35% for two months in a row.
