China strengthens relations with Zimbabwe amid pandemic.

China has extended its hands to Zimbabwe during the coronavirus pandemic. The country has strengthened its relations with Zimbabwe by providing them with medical support in form of face masks, ventilators, gloves and medical practitioners.

Zimbabwe received medical supplies and equipment from China during the week to help them in the fight against the coronavirus. This however is the latest boost that China has made among a series of donations to Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa received the consignment of medical supplies and equipment from Chinese Ambassador Guo Shaochun at a ceremony held at the state house.

“It is truly gratifying to see that under the enormous stress of COVID-19, the China-Zimbabwe friendship is standing stronger than ever,” Guo said.

Despite the pandemic, China and Zimbabwe remain friends and hope to strengthen their relations in such hard and critical times.

Zimbabwe was one of the first countries to give support and confidence to China when they heard about the outbreak that had hit China. In return, China was also one of the countries that stood up to give support to Zimbabwe after the virus had attacked them.

“China will not forget how Zimbabwe was among the first to give us confidence and support in the hard days of our own struggle against the virus,” Guo commented.

The China Ambassador stressed out that China was still in the process of making efforts to further assist Zimbabwe as more medical facilities where expected to reach the country in the coming week. This would be the second batch.

China blessed Zimbabwe with 7,600 protective suits, 20,000 test kits, 12,000 pairs of gloves, five ventilators and 11 health experts would soon arrive in Zimbabwe to help combat the pandemic.

President Mnangagwa thanked China for the gesture also highlighting that China-Zimbabwe ties are continuing to blossom as evidenced by the two countries joining hands against the pandemic.

“I am aware that efforts continue in China to gather more material support for Zimbabwe despite the volume of what they have already done,” Mnangagwa noted.
