In a bid to fight against the novel virus, China has donated another 30 000 coronavirus testing kits to Zimbabwe given reports that the country is challenged by the shortage of equipment.
The Chinese government has already donated pandemic consignments that include 40 000 medical gloves and 220 000 surgical masks. Over the past months, China has been very supportive to Zimbabwe amid the pandemic.
Total donations from China to Zimbabwe since the beginning have amounted to 1 million masks, 51 000 testing kits and 140 000 quantities for other PPEs.
The consignments were received by Zimbabwe President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa who thanked the Chinese government for coming in handy at their time of need. In his words, the President said:
“l am overwhelmed by what China continues to do for Zimbabwe during such crucial times. It has kept our friendship for many years. The world needs unity above all things at this moment as we fight against the monster. The consignments will go a long way in helping our country.”
Health authorities in the country have urged people to continue maintaining social distancing techniques, wearing masks, exercise personal hygiene and take all precautionary measures to prevent the spread and transmission of the virus in the absence of a vaccine.
