900 families receive food donations from Mwaruwari.

Families in Old Magwegwe have received foodstuffs donated by the former warriors captain Benjamin Mwaruwari.

Mwaruwari gave 900 families foodstuffs and also remembered Highlanders and Entembeni Old People’s Home by giving them 30 hampers.

When Mwaruwari is in Zimbabwe, he plays for a social football club from Marisha in Old Magwegwe, Zulu Chiefs. This football club was also grateful to receive food donations from the Benjamin Mwaruwari Foundation.

The people in Old Magwegwe each recieved a 10kg bag of maize meal, 750ml of cooking oil and 500 grams packet of sugar beans to help the residents combat the fight against the pandemic. The donation was worth $540 000.

Cleopas Phiri, a resident of Magwegwe thanked Benjamin for his gesture considering the daily rise in prices of goods. Phiri said the donation came at a time when it was needed the most by the community.

“Benjy has always been helping the needy in our community and we really appreciate the efforts he continues to make by remembering us. We really appreciate his gesture,” said Phiri.

“You know with the prices of mealie-meal skyrocketing and selling fo R100 for a 10kg bag on the black market, this donation has really come at the right time to cushion us,” continued Phiri.
