Pretoria Zoo to give animals Christmas gifts

Some lucky animals, including leopards and wild dogs at the Pretoria Zoo, will on Thursday receive edible Christmas gifts.

This was revealed in a statement by the National Zoological Gardens of South Africa (NZG) on Tuesday.

“Santa will be making his rounds at the NZG on Thursday,” spokesperson Angeliné Schwan said, adding “the gift-giving will take the form of environmental enrichment activities”.

She said leopard and wild dogs as well as the charismatic penguins and the enigmatic Cape vultures, will be treated to some festive fun the form of delicious holiday-themed treats.
