Driving positive change in local communities

With a strong commitment to fostering positive change within communities in the Madibeng Local Municipality area, a newly appointed Community Operations Intern is set to make lasting impacts.  Appointed by De Wildt Solar, Gomolemo Mogale, who hails from the local community of Damonsville, understands the importance of having a member of the community in this position as it enables a deeper understanding of the challenges and issues faced by the residents.

“The most interesting aspect of my job is having the opportunity to engage with different stakeholders, exploring the different communities, being exposed to the indigenous knowledge and learning more about them,” stated Gomolemo, who was drawn to this position as it aligned with both her academic background and personal values of making a meaningful impact in communities.

Prior to joining De Wildt Solar, Gomolemo worked at the Gauteng Department of Social Development and a charitable organisation, Inyathi Visions Skills and Development Centre. Her experience in these organisations has equipped her with the necessary skills to be an effective Community Operations Intern.

For Gomolemo, solar energy plays a vital role in ensuring energy security and reducing unemployment rates through job creation.

“I believe solar energy promotes independency as power is drawn from a natural resource. I see it as an important solution to the ongoing power outages and blackouts in South Africa, advocating for the country to become more independent and self-sufficient in energy,” she said.
