Air Seychelles recently announced its corporate social responsibility programme aimed at reducing their carbon emissions. This is in response to a growing number of travelers abandoning air travel in an attempt to reduce their carbon footprints.
The airline seeks to invest in a range of electronic equipment that will ease fuel dependency in its ground operations. Air Seychelles has invested in a new Airbus A320 neo aircraft that offers a variety of environmental benefits and effectively reduce their carbon emissions. The aircraft has an engine that, on average, saves 20% of fuel per flight in a month.
Remco Althius, the CEO of Air Seychelles said, “As fuel and emissions are two key factors that impact the global environment, Air Seychelles remains committed to contributing towards sustainable development by conducting business in an economically and responsible manner”. He also mentioned that the aviation industry is under great pressure regarding carbon emissions and the impact of aircrafts on climate change.
According to Althius, Air Seychelles has committed to exploring ways to implement ecological measures throughout the airline and protect the environment in which the airline operates.
