African Rainbow Minerals is empowering our rainbow nation

African Rainbow minerals(ARM) Corporate Social  initiatives created 1 443 jobs in 2016 – 1 226 jobs were created through local economic development projects and 217 through corporate social investment projects.ARM focuses on the following CSI area:

  1. Education, with particular focus on technical subjects and bursaries for engineers
  2. Supplier development and aligning with ARM’s sustainable development targets

Projects in the CSI sphere support local communities as part of the commitment to local economic development undertaken as part of ARM’s social and labour plans, which are established and regularly revised in close consultation with communities, local government and the integrated development plans. There are also corporate social investment initiatives run by the operations such as NPO’S/NGO’S aimed to address the particular needs of their host communities. At corporate level, corporate social responsibility initiatives include the ARM Chairman’s Fund, the ARM Community Investment Trust, the Educational Trust and the ARM BBEE Trust.

ARM has invested a further R2 352 million as capital expenditure  at  the operations to bolster job creation.This year the mineral resources comapany also announced their long term goals to improve the lives of communities they operate in through these initiatives:

  1. Continue enterprise development in partnership with government, development agencies and communities
  2. Supplier development initiatives to incorporate SMMEs into preferential procurement programmes
  3. Projects that focus on community health and wellness in partnership with the Department of Health
