Ghana offers soccer centre as isolation centre.

The  Ghana Football Association has offered The Ghanaman Soccer Centre to the government to use as an isolation centre to accommodate vulnerable brothers and sisters in the country during the COVID-19 pandemic period.

Initially, the thought of the soccer centre to be used as an isolation centre had not sat well with the Chiefs of Prampram but later agreed after noting how conducive the centre would be for the vulnerable Prampram people.

Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Kurt E.S Okraku commented that the federation had freely handed over the Ghanaman Soccer centre of excellence to the government which would accommodate a number of 250 people. This was after a successful dialogue with the Chiefs and people of Prampram.

This revelation was made at the ministry of information’s media briefing on Thursday. It was therefore to give updates on governments fight to beat the spread of the coronavirus in Ghana. The gesture would be a success to the nations benefit.

President of the land H.E Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo Addo made an appeal to all Ghanaians to join the fight against the biggest enemy. Following the singular decision, the facility was made ready for isolation.

“It is strategically placed so we decided to offer this facility to the use of government as one of the isolation centres to treat our people, our colleagues, our brothers and sisters who live at Prampram and its environs. Together we will win this battle and together we will bring our football back,” said the association president.

The GFA has been vociferous during the period running campaigns across platforms to create awareness since the first COVID-19 case was reported in Ghana. It also suspended all football competitions as a precautionary measure.
