Hyundai Celebrated for Driving Social Change

Hyundai Automotive South Africa has been recognised at the 2025 SA Auto Week for something far greater than vehicle sales: its sustained commitment to transformation, empowerment and community development. The company walked away with four NAAMSA Accelerator Awards — including three in transformation categories — underscoring a 25-year legacy of driving real impact beyond the road.

Hyundai Automotive South Africa was honoured with the Job Creator Importers Employment Award, the Women Empowering Importers Award, the Youth Empowering Importers Award and the LCV Biggest Achiever of the Year for the Hyundai GRAND i10 Cargo.

“These esteemed awards are a tribute to every employee who makes this a purpose-driven business,” said Sam Matlhola, Director of Parts and Distribution, who accepted the awards on behalf of the company.

The recognition reflects a suite of initiatives designed to uplift local communities: the Youth Empowerment Service (YES) Programme and Sales Cadet training, creating pathways for young artisans; one of the highest numbers of female Dealer Principals in the South African automotive industry; and community libraries and local partnerships that broaden access to knowledge and opportunity.

“We do not just sell cars. We help build futures,” Matlhola added. “Whether it is training a young artisan, supporting women in leadership or developing communities, our mission remains clear: to be a responsible business that leaves a lasting impact.”

While Hyundai’s GRAND i10 Cargo earned the LCV Biggest Achiever Award for its practicality and safety, the company says it is the people behind the vehicles who make the difference — from technicians and showroom staff to the independent dealer network that embodies the brand’s customer-first service.

The awards come as Hyundai Automotive South Africa celebrates 25 years of trust, quality and growth. “Our brand’s sustained success shows that South Africans don’t just appreciate Hyundai – they believe in it,” said CEO Stanley Anderson. “This proud moment belongs to our entire Hyundai Automotive South Africa family.”

For a quarter of a century, Hyundai Automotive South Africa has built more than cars; it has built careers, empowered women and youth, and invested in communities. Its recognition at SA Auto Week affirms that social impact can be the engine behind business success — and that mobility can be a platform for empowerment.
