Futballing Girls announced the Finalists for the Gauteng Women in Sports Awards 2022 at Vision View TV Studios, hosted by sport enthusiast and sportscaster, Dikeledi Tshabalala.
The winners of the 2021 Westrand, Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg, Tshwane and Sedibeng Women in Sports Awards are all finalists for the Gauteng Women in Sports Awards. Our finalist encompasses many different sporting codes including skydiving, athletics, football, rugby, tennis, martial arts, golf, softball, volleyball, disability sport and so many more.
“Futballing Girls is and always will be unapologetic and very intentional about creating impactful platforms for women in sport. Our Women in Sports Awards are not just about having a recognition platform, but an instrument to drive change on perceptions, stereotypes, and growth in women in sport participation on the field and in the boardroom. It’s very important for us to empower women to understand that the responsibility of gender equality is each of our responsibilities and not through instructional or once off events in Women’s months but continuous everyday actions of finding ways of elevating the women in sport brand and creating opportunities for each other, says Moonira Ramathula, Founder & Chairperson of Futballing Girls and Women in Sports Awards.
The Futballing Girls Women in Sports Awards debuted in Ekurhuleni in September 2018 and have since been launched in all five districts in Gauteng, culminating in the Gauteng Women in Sports Awards.
“I want to not just congratulate the finalists but thank everyone who sent through nominations for the Westrand, Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg, Tshwane and Sedibeng Women in Sports Awards. Your nominations ensured that the fight for gender equality and the empowerment of women in sport continues,” adds Ramathula.
The 2022 Gauteng Women in Sports Awards will take place on Friday, 25 March 2022 in Johannesburg.
