Consol shines a light on the abuse of women and children

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a worldwide campaign to oppose violence against women and children. It aims to raise awareness of the negative impact that violence and abuse have on women and children and to rid society of abuse permanently.

On 22 November the TEARS Foundation, in partnership with 1000 Women 1 Voice and Avon, invited influencers, activists, businesswomen, authors, corporates and other dynamic and inspiring South African women to address a crowd of 120 survivors of abuse and other members of the public at Shepstone Gardens in Johannesburg.

Consol was proud to donate Solar Jars to all attendees, metaphorically supporting the sharing of the light and knowledge that was communicated at the event.

Cleo Madini of Consol described the sense of positivity which marked the proceedings: “As the speakers shared their stories of power and determination, a day which was premised on pain became instead suffused with hope and inspiration.”

Consol would like to thank the TEARS Foundation and all the speakers and guests for their courage and strength, and to reaffirm its commitment to helping eradicate violence and abuse in all its forms.
