During the month of September, the Clover Mama Afrika’s celebrated Heritage Day by spending it the way they know best – with their families and those in their communities that they love and look after.
Clover Mama Afrika has established a reputation for being one of South Africa’s most innovative and sustainable corporate investment projects. The project currently has 27 operating Clover Mama Afrikas who collectively manage 141 income generating projects and 39 added value projects.
The formidable women from Clover Mama Afrika, lovingly called ‘Mama’s’ collectively care for more than 11 700 children and over 2 700 elderlies. These Mama’s come from all over South Africa, with nine from the Western Cape, eight from the Eastern Cape, two from the Northern Cape, four from the Free State, three from KwaZulu Natal, 16 from Gauteng, two from North West, two from Mpumalanga and one from Limpopo.
Let’s take a look at how some of the Mama Afrika’s celebrated Heritage Day this year. They took part by hosting some activities at their centres and making sure everyone celebrated their heritage:
Mama Phumla Goje hosted a traditional Heritage Day where all guests were dressed accordingly in their heritage attire. She provided the children with food and jumping castles at the centre and made it a fun and festive day for everyone.
Mama Sipiwe Solomons of Hazyview started a fellowship of pastor’s wives and lady pastors and this Heritage Day a group of 50 women celebrated together. Hosanna Orphanage went to the Kruger National Park for a day of fun as it was a local free entrance week.
Mama Mary Lwate form Gauteng celebrated those children who had birthdays during lockdown and could not celebrate at the time. She took the opportunity to give thanks for surviving and celebrating new beginning
Mama Albertina Bloko of Alexandria invited a speaker to visit her centre and speak to everyone on Heritage Day. They wore traditional clothing and Mama Albertina prepared traditional food for every
Mama Nondumiso Mpitimpiti of Amalinda Forest in the Eastern Cape arranged food tasting and the orphanage enjoyed doing cultural dances and a sketch on the day.
“Clover Mama Afrika would not be a success without our passionate and dedicated Mama’s. These women strive to improve themselves every single day and make their communities their top priority. They put so much love and time into the training that we provide them, in order to then in turn, upskill those in their communities. We are so excited that they enjoyed and celebrated Heritage Day in such meaningful ways,” explains Prof Elain Vlok, Clover Manager, Clover Mama Afrika Trust.
