A call for designers to be groomed for the #DFF2020 Fashion Mentorship Programme

As we all know, all events were suspended due to Covid-19 restrictions throughout South Africa but now that the announcement was made that we are at level 2, we are ready to embrace a return to some normality bearing in mind safety regulations for the remainder of 2020.!

So, for those aspiring clothing designers who may have missed the announcement, there are still a few spaces available for the Mentorship programme run by the eThekwini Municipality, who are extending an invitation to young & aspiring fashion designers and fashion houses, who reside or run their businesses within the greater eThekwini area to participate in the 2020 Durban Fashion Fair 6 month mentorship programme. All those interested need to apply now.

The interested fashion houses / designers are requested to submit the following, where applicable: A company / individual profile; Grade 12 certificate / relevant degree; a certified RSA ID document; a letter of motivation; a professional portfolio of evidence with story & mood board and proof of residence (from a councillor/utility bill/proof of address). Please note that applicants should indicate that their businesses are registered, if not, the BSTMU will assist them in registering through the Small Business Development Agency.

All of the above information requested must be delivered to: Business Support, Tourism and Markets Unit, 7th Floor, Embassy Building, 199 Anton Lembede Street, Durban for the attention of Nokuphila Makhanya, before 16h00 on Friday, August 28!

Only selected designers will be invited for an interview. So, if you want to be the next DFF Rising Star and you need more details, please contact Nokuphila on 0313229971 or email nokuphila.makhanya@durban.gov.za during office hours.
