Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid wants to give unemployed women from disadvantaged backgrounds a chance to succeed in business, to help them Go Further in their lives – empowering them with skills that will help them start small businesses.
Key constraints to entrepreneurship and/or small business development are access to resources, and the lack of self-belief in the ability to rise above challenges that one may be facing. Sunlight wants to motivate women to press on towards their dreams, not allowing their circumstances to hinder them.
“Since 1957, Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid has assured consumers a quality product, which “goes a long way” in keeping their dishes clean every day, remaining an important part of many South African homes. As such, we have decided to extend our product promise of “a little goes a long way” to really help women realise their potential of contributing to their growth of the economy, one small business at a time, says Nobuhle Ngubane, Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid Assistant Brand Manager.
Having identified start-up friendly industries, Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid’s Hit Squad will be visiting communities to find ordinary women in South Africa and give them the opportunity to win one of 50 Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid’s fundamentals in culinary and fashion courses. These courses are aimed at helping women to gain a skill that will empower them to start their businesses, benefiting their families and communities.
“Participation of entrepreneurs in townships in the mainstream economy has been recognised as one of the game changers for the South African economy. As such, Sunlight wants consumers to participate in small businesses in their communities. We encourage our consumers to take advantage of these courses by buying a Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid, sending their barcode to *120*3532# and follow the steps. Then by displaying Sunlight on their windows, they would stand a chance of being selected as the lucky consumers who will get to study towards a skill of their choice” says Ngubane.
The popular actress and business woman, Winnie Ntshaba, is spearheading the campaign, sharing her journey and motivating women throughout the campaign.
Look out for the Sunlight Go Further Team that will announce the arrival of the Hit Squad in your community. Together, Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid wants to show South Africa that women can excel at anything they put their minds to, no matter their circumstances.
