SA university ranked best in Africa

For the past year, University of Pretoria(UP) has been ranked first in SA in Computer Science & Engineering, Veterinary Science, and Finance in the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy’s 2020 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS). UP’s GIBS Business School has been ranked the most gender-balanced business school in the world by the UK’s Financial Times.

The South African university has also been ranked as number one in Africa by UniRank.UniRank features reviews and rankings of more than 13,000 universities and colleges in 200 countries.UP was not only ranked as the best in Africa but was also ranked at 183 on the list of the top universities in the world.

According to IOL, UP is also ranked in the top 500 universities globally in the global rankings of academic subjects. This ranking assesses more than 4,000 universities globally in 54 subject areas and found UP to be at the top locally in subject areas such as computer science, engineering, veterinary science and finance.“These rankings are a result of the high-quality programmes UP offers, as well as a validation of the expertise of our academics,” said Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Tawana Kupe.
