MTN Online School sees SA learners excelling and prepared for 2022 academic year

With children across SA having started their academic year for 2022, MTN SA Foundation concluded the six-week online Summer School aimed at assisting learners to close their knowledge gaps, in preparation for the 2022. The programme saw over 1 313 learners finishing revision lessons and assessments.

The MTN online Summer School provides a further avenue for learners to access quality curriculum-aligned educational content, as endorsed and provided by the Department ofBasic Education (DBE). It forms part of the MTN Online School that was launched in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT) in October 2021.

“Their determination to do what it takes to get ahead, has been so encouraging. It is also heart-warming to see SA’s young people accessing the MTN Online School e-learning platform. The platform has had 26 450 unique users log on and 31 466 revision lessons and assessments have been downloaded. They have taken action to make sure that, regardless of any obstacles put in their paths, they will be ready for the year ahead,” says Jacqui
O’Sullivan, MTN SA’s Executive for Corporate Affairs.

“We are very pleased to have been able to play our part by ensuring that our youth have access to quality learning content even during holidays” says O’Sullivan.“After the successful launch of MTN Online School, it has enabled thousands of learners to enhance their academic potential ahead of this academic year.”

MTN Summer School in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT), Tswelopele and 2enable, held a competition where 2GB of data were given away weekly with a laptop draw, where winners were chosen at the end of every cycle.

Challengers who participated in the online Summer School were entered into the lucky draws where one fortunate winner could win 2 GB of data each week.

These five lucky winners were;
• Dineo Lebakeng, Grade 11
• Lethukhuthula Ndlela Grade 12
• Moshe Khosa Grade 11
• Elizabeth Msimanga Disebo Grade 11
Sensitivity: Public
• Nokuthula Ndlovu Grade 12
As laptop computers are an essential tool for any ambitious learner seeking tertiary education
opportunities and preparing for their future workplace – it is with great pleasure that we
announce the three lucky learners each winning their own laptop computer:
• Bafana Mbonani Grade 12
• Sonke Viki Grade 10
• Boitumelo Mathe Grade 12

MTN collaborates in efforts aimed at enabling learners to enjoy the benefits of digital learning by accessing MTN Online School, improve academic performance and award excellent performance.“Our experience has taught us the importance of investing in end-to-end ICT interventions and this continues in 2022, as we strive to help more children and disadvantaged schools across the country benefit from the modern, connected life,” concludes O’Sullivan.
