With eight fully functional stores in South Africa and one in New York, RAIN has established itself as one of the only beauty brands in SA that uses Natural Fair Trade bodycare, using wild harvested botanical actives.
Moreover, the he body and bath-product brand which was founded by Bev Missing more than a decade ago in Swellendam now employs 110 direct employees and has around 40 CMT’s in various supplier groups.
Bev says that the main reason RAIN came into existence was to provide jobs, skills and hope to people living in desperate poverty, particularly women and the disabled.
Rain products include extracts and oils from Kalahari melons, Mongongo nuts, Marula fruit, Mafura seeds, the pods of the giant Baobab and the delicate fynbos of the Cape Floral Kingdom, all packed with antioxidants, moisturizers and nutrients to protect and replenish your skin.
These African botanicals are sustainably harvested in the wild by knowledgeable local women and blended with locally-grown natural ingredients to create the final product.
Their production cycle is deliberately low-tech and labour intensive. Products and packaging are hand-made by trained crafters. Rain supports small local suppliers and producers. Ingredients are hand-harvested by women living in remote areas of Southern Africa where economic opportunities are almost non-existent.
Furthermore , RAIN is the only Southern African beauty and body product company which is accredited by both Fair Trade in Africa and the international Fair Trade body in Europe.
