A bursary application and registration drive has kicked off in Loeriesfontein, to help Grade 12
learners and community members over the next couple of weeks.Loeriesfontein Wind Farm and Khobab Wind Farm’s 2021 bursary applications are now open.
To help learners and community members interested in pursuing further studies, a community support
business unit has been set up at the Loeriesfontein Sports Field for a full two– week period. Grade 12
learners and community members are encouraged to visit this special unit, which is managed by
Angels Resource Centres, Monday 19th to Friday 30th October, daily from 08:30am to 05:00pm.
Matric learners should bring the following documentation: Certified ID, Proof of Address, Proof of
parents or own income or grant income, latest school certificate available, grade 11 and most recent
grade 12 results. The bursary programme, which launched during 2018, is currently benefiting eleven local
Loeriesfontein students, who are being funded by these two wind farms.
The bursary programme is promoted to Grades 10 to 12 at Loeriesfontein High School and is
available to applicants wishing to pursue studies at university or technical college, and is not limited
to any field of study. The long term goal is to become focused on STEM subjects, such as engineering, accounting and
sciences.
“The student needs to be a resident of Loeriesfontein, they need to have matriculated well enough
to qualify for acceptance into a college or university, the joint family income needs to meet a set
threshold; and in balancing demand versus budget the allocations will always be made on academic
merit,” explained Vanessa Fredericks Economic Development Manager for Khobab Wind Farm.
