World Economic Forum intervenes in the business community.

The rapid spread of the coronavirus has to a great extent disrupted businesses worldwide following government regulations that people should stay at home during the lockdown period.

The pandemic has also destroyed livelihoods and communities. However, the World Economic Forum calls stakeholders in global businesses to work hand in glove to minimise the virus impact on public health and limit further damage to economies around the world.

As the virus is causing deaths and major disruption to the global economy, the World Economic Forum (WEF) has carried out a mission to bring in global cooperation among governments, business community and the international organisations as response to the COVID-19 crisis.

WEF created the COVID Action Platform to help business community for collective action. The platform will also cater and protect peoples livelihoods, facilitate business continuity and mobilize support during the COVID-19 period.

The global platform has the full support of the World Health Organisation and it is open to all businesses, industry groups as well as other stakeholders with a positive vision of intergrating and informing joint action.

“As an organization, the Forum has a track record of supporting efforts to contain epidemics. In 2017, at our Annual Meeting, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) was launched – bringing together experts from government, business, health, academia and civil society to accelerate the development of vaccines,” said a member of WEF.
