Apple has become the first company inducted into The One Club for Creativity’s newly established Brand Hall of Fame, recognising five decades of creative innovation.
The new honour forms part of The One Club’s Creative Hall of Fame, established in 1961 to recognise individuals who have made a lasting contribution to creativity, design and communications.
Its previous inductees include Walt Disney, Andy Warhol, Annie Leibovitz, Gordon Parks, Saul Bass, Paul Rand and George Lois. Apple becomes the first brand to receive Hall of Fame recognition.
“It’s an incredible honor for Apple to join the Creative Hall of Fame, because imagination is woven into everything we do,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said.
“It drives how we innovate, how we design, and how we work every day to empower people everywhere to create their own extraordinary things.”
Apple’s selection recognises a creative history spanning advertising, product design, packaging and retail environments.
Its best-known advertising includes the “1984” commercial that introduced the original Macintosh, the “Think Different” campaign, iPod silhouette advertising and the long-running “Get a Mac” campaign.
More recent campaigns include “Shot on iPhone” and “Privacy, that’s iPhone”, alongside work focused on accessibility and the company’s holiday advertising.
Throughout its history, Apple has worked both internally and with agencies including Chiat/Day and TBWA\Media Arts Lab.
Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was individually inducted into the Creative Hall of Fame in 2012.
The company and TBWA\Media Arts Lab have also twice received The One Show’s Penta Pencil, which recognises an agency and brand partnership for sustained creative achievement over a five-year period. They received the award in 2017 and again in 2026.
The One Club established the Brand Hall of Fame to recognise companies with longstanding records of creative excellence, bold ideas and cultural influence.
Kevin Swanepoel, CEO of The One Club, said Apple was a natural choice as its inaugural inductee.
“The Brand Hall of Fame was created to recognize the rare brands that have made creativity fundamental to who they are and, in doing so, have helped move our industry and culture forward,” Swanepoel said.
“For more than 50 years, Apple has set an extraordinary standard for design, innovation and creative communication.”
Future inductees will be selected every two years, with The One Club examining more than a century of winners from The One Show and Art Directors Club Annual Awards before shortlisted brands are voted on by its national and international boards.
Apple will be formally inducted during the Creative Hall of Fame ceremony at Capitale New York on 16 September 2026.
This year’s individual Creative Hall of Fame inductees include Rosie Arnold, Janet Champ, John C Jay, Caroline R. Jones, Joyce King Thomas and Piyush Pandey.
Michael Conrad will be inducted into the Educators Hall of Fame.
The One Club for Creativity is a nonprofit organisation supporting the global creative community through awards, education, professional development and initiatives designed to expand access to creative careers.
