FNB eBucks, Clicks Unite With Engen

FNB eBucks, Clicks and Engen have launched a joint rewards ecosystem designed to help South Africans unlock greater value from everyday spending and fuel purchases.

As rising living costs continue to place pressure on household budgets, FNB eBucks, Clicks and Engen have announced a first-of-its-kind partnership that rewards customers across banking, fuel and retail through a single integrated loyalty ecosystem.

Launching on 1 August 2026, the new collaboration enables customers to earn enhanced rewards by banking with FNB, shopping at Clicks and filling up at Engen, combining three of South Africa’s most frequently used spending categories into one connected customer experience.

The initiative is designed to help consumers maximise value from everyday purchases as more South Africans look for practical ways to stretch their monthly budgets.

“Customers already spend across fuel, health, beauty, pharmacy and household categories, but these purchases are often rewarded separately. This Trio ecosystem brings them together in a single customer value proposition that rewards everyday spending more meaningfully,” said Pieter Woodhatch, CEO of FNB eBucks Rewards.

Customers who fuel exclusively at Engen, shop at Clicks, meet the required monthly qualifying spend and pay using eligible FNB Credit, Debit or Fusion cards can earn up to R12 per litre back in eBucks. This includes an additional R4 per litre above existing qualifying rewards.

The announcement comes as consumer loyalty programmes continue to grow in importance. According to the Truth & BrandMapp 2025/26 research, the average South African now belongs to 10.4 loyalty programmes, compared with 4.6 a decade ago, reflecting consumers’ growing focus on extracting greater value from routine spending.

Woodhatch said customer expectations are changing as people seek rewards that span multiple areas of their everyday lives rather than isolated purchases.

“The future of loyalty lies in creating connected ecosystems that make everyday spending more rewarding. By bringing together eBucks, Clicks and Engen, we’re creating a more seamless rewards experience that helps customers get more from the purchases they already make,” he said.

The partnership combines one of South Africa’s largest banking rewards programmes with Clicks’ network of more than 1,000 stores and over 13 million ClubCard members, alongside Engen’s network of more than 1,000 service stations processing over one million transactions every day.

Engen General Manager: Retail, Enoch Hermanus, said the collaboration creates additional value beyond the fuel pump by rewarding customers for everyday purchasing behaviour across trusted brands.

Clicks Retail Chief Marketing Officer Fionna Ronnie said connected partnerships such as the Trio ecosystem represent the future of loyalty programmes by helping consumers unlock savings across health, beauty, wellness, fuel and financial services.

Together, the three companies say the partnership creates one of South Africa’s largest integrated rewards ecosystems, giving millions of customers more opportunities to save while making everyday spending work harder.
