Women across logistics, transport and supply chain will gather to strengthen leadership, resilience and professional growth at CILTSA’s WECON 2026 conference in September.
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport South Africa (CILTSA) will host its fourth Women in Logistics, Transport and Supply Chain Empowerment Conference (WECON 2026) on 18 September at the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre in Boksburg.
Held under the theme “Resilience Reimagined: Leading Through Disruption,” the conference will bring together professionals from transport, logistics, procurement, warehousing, distribution and supply chain, alongside entrepreneurs, students, educators, policymakers and corporate leaders committed to advancing gender equity.
“South Africa’s logistics system faces infrastructure constraints, port bottlenecks, skills shortages, digital transformation and shifting market expectations, placing resilience at the centre of organisational success,” said CILTSA Brand Ambassador Shevon Kotiah CMILT. “WECON 2026 offers a focused space for women to build the insight, networks and confidence needed to lead through these conditions and shape more competitive industries.”
Despite progress, women remain underrepresented across the sector. Women make up around 28% of South Africa’s transport and logistics workforce, while just over 4% of commercial truck drivers are women. Research also indicates that women occupy fewer than one in four senior leadership positions across the industry.
The conference programme will examine the future of logistics in South Africa, exploring how women can lead through disruption, strengthen supply chain competitiveness and respond to infrastructure challenges, digital transformation and changing market demands.
Delegates will also participate in sessions focused on professional development, internationally recognised designations, accredited learning and continuous skills development aimed at supporting career progression and leadership opportunities.
“Resilience is built when women have the skills, professional standing, connections and conviction to make decisions that move organisations and communities forward,” Kotiah said. “This conference is a call to claim that space, lead with purpose and turn disruption into lasting progress.”
The event will also feature the Imbokodo Hub, an exhibition and networking space connecting delegates with industry solutions, products and services, alongside a Mentorship Matchmaking initiative designed to build lasting professional relationships between experienced leaders and emerging talent.
