Inclusive Lens Awards Return To Africa

FAME Week Africa has opened entries for the Inclusive Lens Awards, celebrating diverse storytelling and representation across film, television and children’s programming globally.

FAME Week Africa has announced the return of the Inclusive Lens Awards, an initiative recognising storytellers, creators and industry leaders advancing diversity, inclusion and authentic representation across film and television.

The awards celebrate productions and changemakers who challenge traditional industry boundaries while bringing more inclusive and representative narratives to screen. As conversations around representation and cultural visibility continue to grow globally, the initiative aims to spotlight work that reflects a wider range of lived experiences and identities.

According to organisers, the awards are designed not only to honour storytelling excellence, but also to recognise the role inclusive narratives play in shaping public perception, driving cultural understanding and creating industry transformation.

The awards are powered by EarCandy, an African content localisation company specialising in translation, dubbing, subtitling, voice-over and media adaptation across more than 30 African languages.

With more than 15 years of experience in the sector, EarCandy works across documentaries, educational content, branded productions, animation, telenovelas and feature films, helping African stories reach broader audiences while maintaining cultural authenticity and nuance.

The 2026 awards will recognise excellence across multiple categories, including LGBTQ+ representation, disability representation, diversity and inclusion within children’s programming, and the Unseen Impact Award, which honours behind-the-scenes changemakers contributing to greater equity and accessibility within the screen industry.

Submissions for the 2026 edition are now officially open, inviting creators, producers and industry professionals to submit projects contributing toward a more representative global media landscape.

The initiative builds on the momentum of the 2025 awards, which recognised productions from across Africa and internationally. Previous winners included children’s programmes, scripted and unscripted productions, and creators recognised for advancing inclusive storytelling practices both on-screen and behind the scenes.

As African film and television content continues gaining international visibility, the Inclusive Lens Awards position the continent as an increasingly important voice within global conversations around diversity, accessibility and cultural storytelling.

The awards ceremony will take place on 29 October 2026 as part of FAME Week Africa, with finalists scheduled to be announced in August.
