Africa Aligns Gaming Policy Dialogue

African regulators and industry leaders will gather in Botswana for the Pan-African Gaming Taxation & Revenue Summit 2026, strengthening collaboration on smart taxation frameworks that support sustainable industry growth.

The Pan-African Gaming Taxation & Revenue Summit (PAGTR) 2026 will take place from 9–10 September 2026 at the Grand Palm Hotel Casino & Convention Resort in Gaborone, Botswana, bringing together policymakers, regulators and industry stakeholders to advance dialogue on the future of gaming taxation across the continent.

The summit forms part of a broader ecosystem of industry collaboration, taking place shortly before the Gaming Regulators Africa Forum (GRAF) Conference 2026 scheduled for 14–17 September 2026 in Mozambique. The alignment of event dates provides an opportunity for participants travelling internationally to engage in both platforms, supporting continuity in discussions relating to regulatory frameworks, tax policy and industry sustainability.

Under the theme “Shaping Smart Tax Policy for a Sustainable Gaming Economy,” PAGTR 2026 will focus on strengthening cooperation between African jurisdictions while supporting the development of balanced taxation approaches that encourage responsible industry growth and effective regulation.

According to Emolemo Peter Kesitilwe, CEO of the African iGaming Alliance, coordinated engagement between regulators and industry stakeholders plays a critical role in strengthening policy clarity and supporting market integrity across African gaming sectors.

The summit is expected to attract regulators, policymakers, tax specialists, legal experts and private sector participants seeking to better understand emerging regulatory trends and opportunities for harmonisation across African markets.

Moruntshi Kemorwale, Acting CEO of the Botswana Gambling Authority, emphasised the importance of continued collaboration across industry platforms, noting that alignment between conferences enables broader participation and deeper engagement on key policy issues.

PAGTR continues to position itself as a platform supporting knowledge exchange and partnership development across Africa’s evolving gaming ecosystem. By facilitating dialogue on taxation, compliance and regulatory cooperation, the summit contributes to ongoing efforts to build transparent, well-regulated markets that balance economic opportunity with responsible governance.

Event organisers anticipate strong participation from stakeholders across multiple African jurisdictions, reflecting increasing interest in policy alignment and sustainable industry growth models.
