Gibela Wesolve4x Maths Competition Crowns Champions

The 2025 Gibela Rail Transport Consortium Wesolve4x Maths Competition has announced its top performers, following a final round that brought together some of Gauteng’s strongest young maths learners from Grade 4 to 7.

Nearly 1,000 learners participated in this year’s competition, which was hosted at Nigel Primary School. According to organisers, 974 learners completed the hybrid-format contest, with 65% scoring above 50%. The top 10 competitors all scored above 80%.

This year’s overall winner is Dlalani Lungile from Pinegrove Primary School, who achieved 92%. The joint runners-up, each scoring 89%, are Khoza Nondumiso Lethukuthula from Mandlethu Primary School and Jiyane Osiphayo from Pinegrove Primary School. Third place was shared by Mtshweni Charisma Luthando (Strubenvale Primary School), Mamabalo Marema (Royal Schools Sky City), and Memela Fanelesibonge (Monde Primary School), each scoring 85%.

Wesolve4x CEO Tsietsi Ngobese said the results reflect a steady improvement in performance. He noted that the difficulty level of the exam was intentionally increased to challenge learners and strengthen their problem-solving abilities.

Wesolve4x runs several maths-focused education initiatives, including free weekend classes and a programme aimed at helping parents understand the maths their children are taught at school. The competition forms part of the organisation’s wider effort to improve foundational mathematics skills among primary school learners.

The competition is supported by the Gibela Rail Transport Consortium, which has partnered with Wesolve4x to promote maths education and encourage interest in STEM-related fields from an early age.

Full results from the 2025 competition are available at www.wesolve4x.co.za. Information regarding the 2026 competition will be released in the coming months.
