Plentify launches HotBot in JHB to help residents save money and reduce load shedding

Plentify, the smart energy company that makes affordable, reliable, and clean electricity a reality for everyone, is launching its innovative product, HotBot, in Johannesburg and surrounds this month. HotBot is a smart home device that intelligently controls your geyser to save energy and reduce electricity bills.

Geysers are responsible for 40 – 60% of electricity bills, and electricity prices have increased 5x in the past 10 years. Traditional geyser timers work in isolation and can contribute to load shedding. Furthermore, a typical geyser bursts every 5 – 10 years due to undetected issues.

HotBot addresses these issues by proactively shifting electricity demand away from peak times, ensuring that you have hot water when you need it, and save energy when you don’t. It protects your home by detecting and alerting you to leaks. And it intelligently syncs up with other HotBot’s to shift electricity demand away from times when we are at risk of loadshedding and towards times when solar is available.

“HotBot is a game-changer for South Africans struggling with high electricity bills and load shedding,” said Plentify CEO, Jon Kornik. “Not only does it reduce your water heating costs by up to 30%, but HotBot’s on just 10% of geysers can eliminate an entire stage of loadshedding for all. We’re excited to bring this innovative product to Johannesburg and help residents save money while contributing to a more sustainable energy future.”

Plentify’s mission is to enable affordable, reliable and clean energy services for everyone in South Africa. With the launch of HotBot in Johannesburg, Plentify is taking another step towards achieving this goal.
