Clover Mama Afrika celebrates appointment of 58th Mama Afrika

As Clover Mama Afrika celebrates 21 years in operation, the project continues to grow in strength with the appointment of their 58th Mama Afrika.

A visit to meet a potential Clover Mama Afrika in Khayelitsha turned out to be the newest addition to the Clover Mama Afrika team, as Prof Elain Vlok, Clover Manager, Clover Mama Afrika Trust was able to successfully appoint the 58th Mama Afrika, Mama Nolitha Ndalasi.

Mama Nolitha from the Sinethemba Community Organisation immediately proved that she was worthy of her appointment. Not only does she run a pre-school, but she has a huge organic food garden, many hard-working women sewing and doing beadwork , and she is a dedicated cook. .

“This really was a positive visit for me and the Clover Mama Afrika project, as I was able to witness all the great work and service Mama Nolitha is doing in her community. Her work ethic and passion really stood out for me and I am excited to have Mama Nolitha part of the project. Her dream is to have a bakery on her premises and if all goes according to plan, we would love to make her dream come true. Mama Nolitha’s centre is definitely one to watch and she will do great things for her community!” explains Prof Vlok.

By living and working by the old saying, ‘give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime,’ Clover Mama Afrika is able to invest in all their Mama Afrikas by hosting various training sessions and upskilling workshops throughout the year.

Clover Mama Afrika is a sustainable Corporate Social Investment project that has been in existence since 2001, seeing the project host 440 training sessions with over 2313 beneficiaries over the years.
