Kenhardt community celebrates Mandela Day

In support of the Kenhardt Youth Development Project, a local Kenhardt-based NGO that cares for and supports victims of gender-based violence and violence as a result of alcohol abuse, Aries Solar Power joined stakeholders in an outreach initiative.

The community event, hosted at the Kenhardt Community Hall, saw stakeholder representatives from the local Department of Social Development, SAPS, Community Policing Forum and community businesses gathering in support of the community, to mark this year’s Mandela Day 2022 celebrations.

In addition to mattresses and hampers that were handed over by other participating stakeholders, Aries Solar Power funded the provision of food parcels to 40 of the families, in line with the theme set by the Nelson Mandela Foundation around food and nutrition.

Following the handover to the beneficiaries, a community discussion on the broader issue of gender-based violence and violence due to alcohol abuse in the community, took place to explore ways to combat this abuse, and highlight current needs and support required.
