DKMS Africa unveils mural of HOPE at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital

The launch of the new DKMS State Patient Support Project in partnership with Be The Match coincided with the commemoration of International Childhood Cancer month which is held annually on 15 February.

As per the press release issued on the day, Red Cross Children’s Hospital drew attention to ICCD with an event which allowed DKMS Africa to launch their state patient project in collaboration with Be The Match.

To make the event memorable, the team at DKMS Africa collaborated with a local primary school, Walmer Estate Primary, to create a book called “A Book of Hope: From Children to Children”. Filled with messages from the primary school students, the book is intended to give courage and hope to children with cancer. The compiled book is a 21-page visual of drawings that merge into the word “HOPE”.

Alana James, Executive Director at DKMS Africa, delivered a message on behalf of the organization and unveiled the mural that was gifted to the hospital on Tuesday.
