Engen Monte Vista supports Step-by-Step school shoe project

Famed for its superior customer service and going the extra mile for its customers, Engen is committed to ensuring it consistently delivers its enduring brand promise, ‘With us you are Number One’. This was evident in the actions of Engen Monte Vista Convenience Centre who supported Metswalle Outreach with their Step-by-Step/Mandela Day School Shoe Project.

The official handover of 100 pairs of school shoes was delayed due to the recent lockdown level 4, restrictions and eventually took place when schools returned after the extended school holidays.Engen Monte Visa Convenience Centre dealer, Chris Faure answered the call from Metswalle Outreach to support and assist Filia School, which caters for learners with physical and intellectual disabilities.

Filia School accommodates close to 200 learners aged 7-18 and aims to equip them with the necessary skills and education to become functional independent adults and play a meaningful role in society.“We are humbled to play a small role in supporting Filia School where the majority of the learners come from disadvantaged backgrounds to enjoy the warm and caring environment offered by the school,” commented Faure.

Engen, which actively encourages and supports their dealers to engage with local communities, congratulated Faure and Engen Monte Vista Convenience Centre for their generous show of community support.“We commend Engen Monte Vista Convenience Centre for showing heart and doing their bit to make a positive difference,” said Seelan Naidoo, Engen General Manager: Retail.

For Faure and his team, making a positive difference by providing a helping hand is an imperative.“We work as a team with Engen head office and strive to support and contribute to the development of our local disadvantaged communities.

“We were involved in a similar school shoe project last year at De Waveren Primary School in Ruyterwacht and we have plans in the pipeline to continue doing the supportive work that we do”.For Engen, disability inclusion is one of the company’s key social investment focus areas, giving the company an opportunity to contribute towards inclusive rights in South Africa.

“As a caring and inclusive company, this aligns with Engen’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which endeavour to ensure a better and more sustainable future for all,” added Naidoo.
