Craft Cannabis TV programming to reach mainstream African audiences on DSTV

Cheeba Africa has announced a new broadcasting deal with Cape Town TV which has resulted in Craft Cannabis TV content also reaching DStv audiences across the African continent. Over the past year, the Craft Cannabis TV channel has engaged with local and international industry specialists to produce high quality cannabis content that covers many aspects of the industry from legalities to medical use, educational growing instruction to celebrating culture.

Cheeba Africa co-founder and CEO, Trenton Birch says, “Craft Cannabis TV has a well-earned reputation locally for documenting the South African cannabis industry and bringing global perspectives to our loyal audience. We are excited about this partnership with Cape Town TV which has the potential to now bring this expert, interesting and enjoyable cannabis content to DStv viewers across Africa, on Channel 263.

It’s an important step in the growth of our channel, as DStv viewers can now access the Craft Cannabis TV content without the costs of data. This gives Cheeba Africa more opportunities to present modern perspectives on cannabis use, to help build a sustainable and responsible African cannabis industry and actively challenge the outdated and erroneous views of cannabis that linger because of both current and historical legislation.”

DStv and Cape Town TV viewers can expect ‘big-picture’ Craft Cannabis TV programmes that explore the cannabis business opportunities and provide insights into large-scale growing. However, they can also learn all about hobby growing, how to make a cannabis smoothie and find out about the medicinal uses of cannabis from medical practitioners.

Presenters include Birch who was a national TV presenter for five years (Take 5, Electric Workshop) and is an experienced interviewer of countless fellow musicians such as Ed Sheeran, Skrilex, Black Coffee, Sho Majozi, Jack Parrow and AKA. He has also prominently interviewed the likes of leading pain management specialist Dr Jake Felice from the USA, Hemporium owner, Tony Budden who has been at the forefront of cannabis legislation for over 20 years, was the last person to ever interview SA activists, the Dagga Couple before the passing of Julian Stobbs and medical cannabis entrepreneur, Tebogo Tlhopane.

Co-founder and Head Of Media Linda Siboto who has been a film producer for almost 20 years says, “Craft Cannabis TV content is classic edutainment – educational, yes, but delivered in an entertaining and dynamic way.We cover all aspects of the industry and deep-dive into fascinating vertices. Our viewers are introduced to dynamics of the industry in Africa and will get insights into the serious potential of the cannabis space from socio-economic to health and well-being impacts.

What will be clear is that this is a crucial time of disruption in the worldwide cannabis industry. The traditional view of users as ‘stoners’ is all but over.As progress is made with regard to legislation issues, and Africa follows in the footsteps of the international community towards decriminalisation, a professionalism rooted in deep cannabis education and experience is on the rise. Cannabis has all the potential to become a unicorn industry across Africa.

It’s an exciting time, and Craft Cannabis TV is proud to be at the forefront of bringing this content to the African continent. It’s fantastic that Cape Town TV and DStv have embraced this and included Craft Cannabis TV on their platforms.”

This month Craft Cannabis TV also launched Canna News Africa, a weekly round-up of all the latest news for people who are in the cannabis industry and those who have an interest in learning all about it. Quirky and informative, Canna News Africa is co-hosted by Instagram cannabis influencer and content creator, Noxy Indoni (The Kush Queen) who takes on the lifestyle section with a special focus in and around Johannesburg.

She is joined by seasoned journalist, Brett Hilton-Barber, who runs the popular https://www.cannabiz-africa.com/, a rich source of cannabis news. Brett is renowned not only as one SA’s best writers but as an artful curator of world-class, cutting-edge cannabis content.
