Dear Bella, is proud to announce a partnership with the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund (NMCF)that will make it possible for more young girls to access sanitary towels.Through this collaboration we will be donating sanitary towels to the fund for the benefit of the young girls who are patients at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital (NMCH) on a continuous basis.
This partnership comes as the world observes July as Mandela Month by participating in acts of goodwill as a way of celebrating Nelson Mandela’s legacy. We would like to encourage South Africans to purchase 67 boxes of sanitary pads to assist the hospital as part of the partnership launch and the Mandela month campaign.
The NMCH, a flagship project of NMCF, is a specialist pediatric facility that serves the healthcare needs of children from different parts of the country.
When we realised the need for items such as sanitary towels at the hospital, we did not allow the fact that Dear Bella is an emerging brand prevent us from assisting. Our Team thought of how we can make a difference and #TurnUpForGirls.
“As a sanitary towels brand, Dear Bella is committed to alleviating Period Poverty through the provision of affordable and quality sanitary towels while ensuring that young girls and women have access to information on menstrual health. Providing a monthly supply of sanitary towels to the NMCH will be an important part of this mission and by extension our way of honoring Madiba’s Legacy,” says Dear Bella founder Matefo M. Morakeng.
The ethos of the NMCH is that no child will be turned away because of their family’s inability to pay, so
this only cements our resolve to be in this partnership for the long haul.
Acts of kindness should not only happen during this period but all the times, which is why we encourage
people to assist in making a lasting impact by giving throughout the year because menstruation is a
monthly occurrence.
People who would like to lend a helping hand and participate can sign up through our website to support
from as little as 7 girls per month, www.dearbella.co.zaor contact us direct to make arrangements.
Communications and Marketing Director at the Fund, Nomthi Mnisi, says that theFund will also be
availing their online gift shop for purchasing of sanitary towels.
“Our gift shop will be launched soon.We are truly grateful to Dear Bella for this generous donation. Many of our patients at NMCH come from disadvantaged backgrounds and this initiative will help to restore dignity to many of them. All sanitary towels will be donated directly to the NMCH with excess supply donated to vulnerable young girls and women that are beneficiaries of the NMCF programmes”.
The NMCF is also encouraging the public to assist the hospital during Mandela Month and beyond under the banner ‘Give Like They’re Yours’ and #ServelikeMadiba. “As Dear Bella we are supporting this campaign because it carries the same impact driven message of advancing children’s rights that we believe in” Morakeng says. The Dear Bella brand has reached thousands of young girls and women through our #Turnupforgirls campaign, and we look forwards to doing more through partnerships like these.
