KFC is on the hunt for SA’s next hottest young talented Social Heat Makers

To celebrate the launch of its limited edition Zinger Nuggets, KFC South Africa is looking to support and elevate young content creatives in Mzansi and inspire them to ‘bring a lil’ heat to their feeds’.

South Africa’s biggest fast-food brand is offering three aspiring Social Heat Makers the opportunity to use their hot content skills, with the new Zinger Nuggets as their muse, to stand a chance to be a social content creator for two upcoming KFC campaigns. To enter the challenge fans must show they can ‘bring a lil heat to their feed’ by featuring the NEW Zinger Nuggets in their own hot social content (videos, photos, Boomerangs etc.) and post on any social platform (Twitter, Tik Tok, Instagram or Facebook) tagging KFC SA and the hashtag #Bringalilheat.

The three selected Social Heat Makers will receive a contract with KFC to create social content for two of their upcoming campaigns worth R40 000, a content creator starter kit worth R10 000 including a new phone, tripod, and light stand. Each winner will also be supported by KFC to publicly profile their personal brand including a YFM radio interview and social media exposure on the KFC SA platforms. The three social creatives will also receive a mentorship with George Mnguni aka Okay Wasabi, the talented social storyteller who has paved his way to becoming one of the country’s most loved YouTubers and content creators.

Okay Wasabi has partnered with KFC to help spread the word about the challenge with fans and to assist in judging the creative social entries. He will also be sharing his hot tips on creating great social content on his channels and once selected, will personally give the three new Social Heat Makers all the knowledge he has gained working in the industry.

As the new Zinger Nuggets certainly ‘Bring a lil heat’, fans can enter the challenge between the 28th of May and 20th of June 2021.

With the growth of SA’s social media influencer industry estimated to be over R1 billion with predictions of growth in 2021, there is loads of opportunity in this content creator market. There is an abundance of untapped creatives amongst our nation’s youth, who only need a springboard to showcase their skills. Instead of offering a handout, KFC wants to offer a hand up to help kick start the careers for three young creatives.

What’s more, to help fans create heat-fueled entries for their #Bringalilheat challenge, KFC will be opening the doors to the Zinger Lil Heat Studio at The Zone in Rosebank. The social studio is designed as a content creator’s playground with specially curated hot social content sets that fans can use to create their entries.
The studio will be open to all eager creators who want to get innovative with Zinger Nuggets and everyone that visits the studio and shares their entries will receive a free Zinger Nuggets as inspiration to ‘Bring a lil heat’.

Aspiring creatives who are keen to seize the opportunity to work with KFC and possibly get a chance to meet Okay Wasabi and other great Social Heat Makers, can visit the Zinger Lil Heat Studio during The Zone’s trading hours between Friday – Sunday (11th-13th June), on Youth Day (16th of June) and Friday – Sunday (18th – 20th of June). For those future Social Heat Makers outside of Jozi, KFC challenges to you to use your imagination and social skills to show them that you have the flame for fame and the fire to set social feeds ablaze.

From Chief Marketing Officer of KFC Africa, Dhruv Kaul: “This year we are all about celebration as we celebrate 50 years in South Africa. We have sent South Africans on a goldrush and we have rewarded creativity with our Mother Day’s Filmer.tv outreach. Now we are upping the anti as we celebrate innovation, youth talent and the spirit of creativity. We have always been a brand that believes in unlocking potential and South Africa’s youth are the masters of using social platforms as self-expression canvases. Through our ‘Bring a lil heat to your feed’ challenge we want to offer them a playground and platform to help ignite their creative careers with the opportunity to showcase their skills.”

If you think you have the social skills as KFC’s next Social Heat Maker then grab a box of their NEW Streetwise Zinger Nuggets and get posting before 20 June 2021. Make sure to tag KFC and #bringalilheat on your posts to enter and if you’re in need of a lil’ heat inspiration, visit the KFC team at the Zinger Lil Heat Studio at The Zone.
