Citizens to benefit from oil pipeline to be built

After realising the oil crisis in Zambia, Angola is set to build an oil pipeline from Lobito to Zambia that will benefit Angola, Zambia and its citizens.

According to the Angolan Ministry of Mineral Resources, on the 19th of this month, both Angola and Zambia will sign a memorandum for the construction of an oil pipeline for the country to supply fuel in Luanda.

The memorandum was discussed and agreed upon by the Minister for Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, and Zambia’s ambassador to Angola, Lawrence Chalungumana.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Mineral Resources, three years ago Zambia showed interest in building a multi-product pipeline, from the municipality of Lobito, in Angola’s Benguela province, to supply Zambia and the region with diesel, gasoline and gas.

At the end of the meeting held on Monday, the Zambian diplomat said the two ministers would sign, in Luanda, the memorandum for construction of the pipeline.

“It will be an opportunity to insert Angola in the regional market and generate employment and energy,” said Lawrence Chalungumana, the Zambian diplomat.
