Zimbabwean coach accepted into prestigious US coaching enrichment program

On the 20th of August 2020, Dereck Chiwara, Zimbabwe women’s rugby sevens coach announced that he has been accepted into the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Programme (ICECP) at The University of Delaware in the United States of America. He already has a World Rugby level two coaching and level one sevens coaching certificate.

The programme is funded by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), in its quest to grow the game worldwide. The program is open to international coaches and national U.S. coaches consist of four modules scheduled over an academic year. Participants will work with an international tutor to develop a personal project that will be implemented for the benefit of the respective sport or sport in general in that country.

The girls together with The Zimbabwe Rugby Union were happy for the devoted coach. “We would like to congratulate the Zimbabwe women’s sevens head coach Derek Chiwara on being accepted by the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and the University of Delaware (UD), for the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program” said The Zimbabwe Rugby Union.
