Lockdown period stops price hike.

In support of customers during the COVID-19 unbearable period, Massmart has decided to freeze prizes for all essentials for their customers.

The price freeze applies to all Makro, Cambridge Foods, Rhino Cash and Carry, Saverite and Game stores as they will be open during the lockdown period. This might be in form of sympathy as well as support to the customers.

Customers are able to shop freely without any fear of any prize increase at these mentioned stores. Essentials like food, non-beverages, toiletries, multi vitamins, pet’s food, house hold cleaning materials and baby formulas will be sold at normal prizes.

Fresh produce that is procured daily from the fresh produce markets around the country is the only category that has been excluded in the freeze of prices.

In a statement, Mitchell Slape, CEO at Massmart said, “This is an unprecedented time for South Africa and the world. As we all come to terms with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, we must do everything we can to support our customers. We are grateful to our suppliers who support this principled position.”
